Krug has again delivered a custom designed vehicle for a couple travelling the world on a full time basis @Chaangvonunterwegs
This expedition vehicle is fully equipped to provide 100% self sufficiency in style and comfort anywhere in the world. It has many features on board including liquid heating, air conditioning and even a washing machine!
The individualised floorplan was designed for two travellers with a large combined shower and toilet and internally accessible washing machine at the front. The midsection contains the kitchen, a 4 person dinette and plenty of storage whilst the rear contains a north-south facing bed with excellent cross flow ventilation provided by the windows on either side and even more storage.
The living module carries approximately 700L of filtered freshwater and 300L of grey water. This allows for extended stays in remote locations whilst still providing the luxury of a hot shower and the ability to wash clothes. Add to this the generous 1200W of tiltable solar panels and 560Ah stored in the 24V Li-ion batteries and the world is yours to explore.
The modern kitchen is fully equipped with a Miele induction hob and microwave combi oven, an Indel-Webasto 195L frost free fridge/freezer, additionally filtered drinking water and a stainless steel sink under-mounted in a Corian countertop. Extra workspace is created by a flip-up bench in the entrance door space.
Along with superior wall, floor and ceiling insulation, the vehicle is fitted with both heating and cooling systems for comfortable living in all climates. It has a 5kW Webasto/Eberspaecher liquid heating system with automatic height adjustment which runs the underfloor heating, radiator and heated towel rail. For warmer climates there is a Saphir Comfort reverse cycle air conditioner.
The light filled interior utilises the best materials available. It features robust, stainless steel cabinet hardware, LED lighting, high quality vinyl plank flooring, alcantara covered dinette cushions and double-glazed windows with both insect and blockout blinds.Every inch of space is used to provide plenty of functional, internal storage for long term travel.
The driver’s cab can be accessed from the living cabin via a large, lockable crawl through space. This combined with the ability to retract the entrance stairs from the inside provides an additional layer of security, allowing the vehicle to be moved without having to go outside if there are any safety concerns.
Additional features of the driver’s cab and chassis include a Ti Systems semi automatic tyre inflation system, a Mekra rear view camera with a monitor in the cab, a second alternator to charge the batteries whilst driving, a heat recovery system for heating the living module from the engine cooling circuit, engine preheating from the living module heater, an extra 400 L diesel tank and several external lights.
The living module is mounted on a MAN TGM 4x4 13 ton chassis which has the capability to go virtually anywhere. This chassis/module combination provides a highly reliable, comfortable expedition vehicle for true world exploration in any climate.
